Guest Lecture on Rejuvenation and Stress Management

The Department of ComputerScience had organized a Guest Lecture on "Rejuvenation and Stress Management".This Guest Lecture was conducted for student of all departments. The aim of theguest lecture on Rejuvenation and Stress Management is to educate individualsabout the critical importance of maintaining mental, emotional, physical,social, and spiritual well-being in today’s fast-paced world. The ResourcePerson for this Guest Lecture was Dr. Rajeev Choudhary, Dean and Prof. inPhysical Education, Dean Students Welfare (DSW), Head School of Studies andLaw, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur (C.G.).

 

Head of the Department Dr. PoojaRathi commenced the program with the brief introduction of Dr. Rajeev Choudhary.In her address she informed the students about the topic and discussed howimportant this subject is for societal benefits.

Dr. Rajeev Choudhary began thelecture by highlighting the urgent need of Rejuvenation and Stress Management.He focuses on restoring balance in the body and mind. “Health is a stateof complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absenceof disease or infirmity”. While rejuvenation aims to replenish our energy andvitality, stress management helps us to cope with challenges without becomingoverwhelmed. When we manage stress effectively, we create space for rejuvenation.Likewise, when we prioritize rejuvenating practices, we are better equipped tohandle stress and perform our best.

Dr. Rajeev Choudhary highlightedthe theory of Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation, that describes 3basic needs which are inclusion, control and affection. In continuation thespeaker discussed about the working of nadis (prana [energy]) thatconvey the life force in a human being Ida, pingala,and sushumna are known to be the three principal nadis. Ida lies to the left of the spine, whereas pingala("golden", "solar") is to the right side of the spine,mirroring the ida. Sushumna ("very gracious", "kind") runsalong the spinal cord in the center, through the seven chakras. Along with thathe also told about the types of mind that is preconscious, conscious,unconscious and roles of these mind. The lecture was emphasized the significance ofrejuvenation practices such as mindfulness, relaxation, and self-care inreplenishing energy levels and restoring balance. By inspiring individuals toadopt stress-reducing techniques and prioritize self-care, the session aims toempower participants to lead healthier, more balanced lives.

Dr.Kuldeep Dubey, the Principal of the college and Vice PrincipalDr.  G. Padma Gouri, presented a thankyou momento to Dr. Rajeev Choudhary as a token of gratitude andaffection.

All of the Computer Sciencedepartment's faculties have put a lot of effort into organizing and carryingout the event.

Aptitude Test

Toevaluate students' logical reasoning and thinking skills, the Department ofComputer Science conducted an Aptitude Test. The purpose of this aptitude test wasto evaluate a student’s inner talents, aptitudes, and potential in a variety ofdomains. The aptitude test was to develop their Mathematical, English,Computer, Logical and General Knowledge abilities. It helps students to come toknow about their skills in various fields and to learn their ability and thearea of improvement for Competitive Exam.  

The test was divided into five sections—

·        Mathematics

·        LogicalReasoning

·        ComputerFundamentals

·        English

·        GeneralKnowledge

Thetest was comprised of multiple choice questions (MCQs).  Altogetherthere were fifty questions and each section contained 10 questions. Thetest was of 60 minutes.

Thisaptitude test would help students to know their strengths and weaknesses andprepare them to score well in Competitive Exams for employment. These testsenhance self-awareness, boosting confidence and motivation. They also provide aframework for improving problem-solving, critical thinking, and time managementskills, all of which contribute to better academic performance. Additionally,aptitude tests help students prepare for internships and job placements,offering clarity about their skills and suitability for specific roles

Incharge faculty of the event was Mrs.Shivangi Pandey. This event was a platform for all students to share andexplore the new knowledge. This will also help them in enhancing their PublicSpeaking and an overall Self-Development.

Students were advised to use PPT fortheir technical topics. After every presentation, Question-Answer session tookplace and presenter cleared all the doubts of audience. The activity wasoverall a perceptive event which turned out to be very educational and helpful.The program ended up with a motivational message by HOD, Dr. Pooja Rathi.


Powerpoint Presentation Competition

A “Power Point PresentationCompetition” was organized on Friday 04/10/2024 by the Department ofComputer Science. The basic purpose of organizing this competition is toinculcate and boost corporate communication, removing the stage fear, developpublic speaking & encourage self-learning amongst the students. Thisactivity is helpful to gain real-world skills such as the ability to presentaccomplishments and skills during a job interview.

Students were given total 09 topics out of which they hadto select one and present the same. The students beautifully presented thetopic using Powerpoint Presentation. A total of 08 students from various classesparticipated in the competition. Each presenter was able to set an example and actedas an inspiration to other students. The time duration allotted to eachpresenter was 05 minutes with a minimum of 6 slides and a maximum of 25.

“Fun with All-Combined Activity”

Along withstudies, other activities are also important in any educational institute sothat the confidence of the students boosts and at the same time it remainsrefreshing. Team activity is a great option to learn how to work in a team so,the Department of Computer Science organized enjoyable and memorable event forBCA and PGDCA students. This activity makes learning engaging and fun. Studentshave actively participated in all the games.

There were totalfour types of games. Such as “Keep the Balloon in Air”, “Passingcardboard”, “Complete the Lyrics”, “Push-Ups”. At the starting of thegames, all the rules were explained to students and the teams were formedaccording to the games.

Each parent teacher meeting should be seen as a chance to improve the child's personalized learning plan. Also, it is important to ensure that the responsibilities of the teacher, student, and parents are well-defined, precise, and aimed at promoting the child's optimal development. Parents play an important role in their child's academic growth by recognizing the challenges and progress the child experiences both academically and socially. The interaction between teachers and parents holds great significance. In fact, parents need to be aware of their child's college performance.

 

In order to achieve this objective, the Department of Computer Science organized a Parents Teacher's Meeting for BCA and PGDCA students. BCA and PGDCA students arrived with their parents/guardians and interacted with their class teachers. The Principal, Vice Principal, and Head of Computer Science Department spoke to all parents and engaged in an interactive discussion. In this PTM, unit test marks and progress report of their wards have been disclosed. The attendance of students for the month of July, August and September also shown to their parents.

 

This meeting was followed by a very cordial interactive session between the teachers and parents regarding the performance of the students. The parents gave very positive feedback regarding the activities and facilities provided by the college. Such event plays a vital role in strengthening the bond between parents and teachers.

Department of Computer Science had organized an activity ”Tech-Fest by Tech-Savvy Students”, where the students of various departments have participated and shown their technical skills and ideas. The workshop began with a brief presentation on the definitions of modals. Students emphasizing their applications in software development, modal building and user interfaces. Various tools and technologies were applied by the students in developing their modals. Every group had to demonstrate their modal to the visitors of the fest. It included purpose and functionality of the modal and teams demoed interactive features they included.

The Tech-Fest was inaugurated by the Director of the college Rev. Fr. Amit Tirkey, Principal Dr. Kuldeep Dubey,Vice Principal Dr. G. Padma Gouri and HOD Dr. Pooja Rathi. The Tech-Fest was Inter Departmental, where students of other departments also participated. Rev.Fr. Amit Tirkey addressed the students and encouraged them for enhancing their problem solving and critical thinking skills. Principal Dr. Kuldeep Dubey guided them with his motivational speech.

The First, Second, Third position and Consolation Prize winners have been facilitated with mementos and certificates. Certificates were distributed to all the participants. The event was concluded with a gratitude note by H.O.D. Dr. Pooja Rathi. All the Staff members worked hard for the successful completion of this event.

The Techno Workshop really involved the students in all the practical areas of technology in designing modals. The learners acquired valued technical skills as well as enhanced teamwork, presentation skills and leadership qualities. 

A group discussion is an interactive conversation about a topic among several pupils. The employment market is using this more and more for selection and interview processes. The Department of Computer Science did this exercise which gives students more speaking and listening practice. The aim of a group discussion is to help each person to express them clearly and effectively through interaction with others, not to win the argument or entertain the group.
All BCA and PGDCA students participated. Four groups of 7 students each were formed. Chits were used to distribute the topic to each group. Group Discussion topics are as follows:-

Group I - The Impact of AI on the Job Market
Group II - Article 370, including a provision of the Indian Constitution
Group III - Social Media and Mental health
Group IV- Are fitness and wellness trends creating unrealistic standards
Ground rules were created to make the discussion learning oriented. Students are provided with 10min of time to discuss about their topics within the group. This made the activity smooth and productive. Every student understood the importance of using body language and linguistic skills to express them. Since the activity made the students more confident, it was a success. The students enjoyed 
the activity very much which helped in shaping their personalities.
All students thanked and enjoyed the activity. All the teachers of the Department of Computer Science worked very hard to plan and conduct the activity. HOD Dr. Pooja Rathi gave a vote of thanks and closing remarks.

The" Quiz Competition" was a program organized by the Department of Computer Science. The purpose of the "Quiz Competition" is to motivate students to foster a competitive atmosphere among them that goes beyond what is covered in the syllabus. Quiz competitions encourage students to think creatively. In order for pupils to benefit from one another's perspectives, it encourages constructive disagreement. 

 The teams “Quizzy Buzzers, Mavericks, Challengers, Quizzing Cameos” were the four groups that participated in the quiz. The event was divided into four rounds.

 1. First Round was General Studies (GS) and General Knowledge (GK) categories. In order to assess participants' basic knowledge, this round consisted of a series of GS and GK questions.

2. Second Round was Logo Identification Round. In this round, competitors had to recognize the company from Image of its Logo.

3. Third Round was Guess the Product by TaglineIn this round, the product had to be identified by its tagline. Tagline was shown to the team members, and their task was to recognize the product.

4. Fourth Round was Guess the Celebrity by Picture. In this round the photo of celebrity was shown and the team had to guess the name of celebrity.

The team of BCA-In amed Team Challengers emerged victorious from the quiz competition after all rounds were finished. Name of Team members are as follows:-

An ice-breaking eventcalled The Ultimate “Hunt Masters - Treasure Hunt” Adventure wasorganized by the Department of Computer Science. This event's goal is tolet students explore the different areas of a college campus. Theevent brought together four teams of enthusiastic participants, all eager toembark on an exciting journey filled with clues, puzzles, and challenges.

The primary goal of thetreasure hunt was to guide teams through a series of clues leading to a hiddentreasure. The event aimed to test students’ problem-solving skills, teamwork,and ability to think creatively under pressure.

4 Groups of 6 students each fromthe mentioned classes were formed namely Team Quest Squad, Team Puzzlers,Team Clue Seekers and Team Enigma Explorers. These teams began their searchusing the clues that had been provided. Each team got seven clues, and the teamthat arrived at the finish point first won. The team quest squad emergedvictorious in this incredibly entertaining game.

Students enjoyed the variety ofclues and the dynamic nature of the hunt. The complexity of the clues waswell-received, with many highlighting the balance between difficulty and fun.The faculties of Department of Computer Science worked hard to make the eventsuccessful.

Title: “Digital Literacy Drive for Little Learners”

Introduction:

The Computer Department of St. Vincent Pallotti College has organized Computer Literacy Program by BCA-III and BCA-II students aimed to impart basic computer skills to students of the Shaskiya Prathmik Shala Khapra Bhatti, Raipur. The initiative was part of our College's commitment to community outreach and enhancing digital literacy among underprivileged students.

Objectives:

1. To introduce students to fundamental Computer operations.

2. To teach basic software applications such as MS word and Paint.

Participants:

Trainers: BCA-III and BCA-II students with proficiency in Computer Applications.

Beneficiaries: Students from Shaskiya Prathmik Shala Khapra Bhatti, Raipur, primarily from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

Activities:

1. Orientation Session: The program began with an orientation where the trainers introduced themselves and explained the goals of the initiative.

2. Basic Computer Skills: Students were taught how to operate a Computer, using the keyboard and mouse effectively, and navigating the desktop environment.

3. Software Applications: Training sessions covered basic software applications such as Microsoft Word for typing exercises and creating simple documents. Students also learned how to use the internet for educational purposes under supervision.

4. Hands-On Practice: Practical sessions were integral, allowing students to apply what they learned. Trainers provided one-on-one assistance to ensure understanding and address queries.

Outcomes:

-  Skill Development: Participants gained confidence in using Computers and basic Software Applications.

Increased Interest: Many students showed enthusiasm for learning more about technology and its applications in daily life.

Empowerment: The program empowered students with a valuable skill set that can enhance their academic performance and future career prospects.

Conclusion:

The Computer Literacy Program for Little Learners of Khapra Bhatti School was successfully completed. Thanks to the dedication and efforts of the BCA-III and BCA-II students of St. Vincent Pallotti College. It not only equipped participants with essential Computer skills but also fostered a spirit of collaboration and community service among the trainers. A concluding ceremony was organized by Department to showcase the work done by the school children throughout the week. Principal Dr. Kuldeep Dubey and Vice Principal Dr. G. Padma Gouri and HOD Dr. Pooja Rathi have graced the event. One week Computer Literacy Program Certificate has been distributed to all School Students by the hands of dignitaries. Along with the Certificate, every child had been gifted with the hard copies of the documents and drawing they have prepared during the training program. The Little Children of school have expressed their views what they have learnt. All faculty of the Computer Science Department worked hard to make the literacy program a grand success. The program was concluded with a gratitude note given by HOD Dr. Pooja Rathi.
