Christmas Celebration

The B.Ed. students of St. Vincent Pallotti College organized a heartwarming Christmas celebration on 20/12/24 in Free zone of the college. The event was graced by the presence of Vice Principal Dr. G. Padma Gouri, along with all the staff members, adding to the festive spirit of the occasion.

The celebration began with a melodious rendition of traditional Christmas carols by the students, filling the atmosphere with joy and reverence. Their harmonious singing set the tone for the event and captured the essence of the festive season.

A beautifully enacted Nativity scene was the highlight of the celebration. Accompanied by the carols, the students artistically depicted the birth of Jesus Christ, bringing the story to life through their performance. Their dedication and creativity were evident, as they used vibrant costumes and simple yet impactful props to narrate the timeless tale.

Dr. G. Padma Gouri appreciated the efforts of the students and highlighted the importance of unity, love, and joy during Christmas. The staff members also commended the students for their enthusiastic participation and creative presentation.

The event concluded with an exchange of festive greetings and a group photo capturing the joyous moments. The celebration not only spread festive cheer but also showcased the collaborative spirit of the students.


TET Set Go... (Test series for TET Exam Preparation)

The Department of Education at St. Vincent Pallotti College successfully conducted a TET (Teacher Eligibility Test)preparation test series for B.Ed. Semester III and Semester I students. The test series was organized from 9th to 13th December 2024, with a daily one-hour session dedicated for enhancing students' readiness for the TET examination.

The test series aimed to familiarize students with the exam pattern and assess their knowledge and time management skills. Each test covered essential topics from the TET syllabus, including Child Development and Pedagogy, Mathematics & Science, Social  Studies, and Language Skills.

Each day,  two set of  tests of 40 minutes each were conducted, focusing on the key subject areas of the TET syllabus. The test series covered the following subjects in different combinations, with 30 questions in each section:


  1. Child Development and Pedagogy
  2. Mathematics and Science/Social Studies and Social Science
  3. Hindi
  4. English

Students actively engaged with the tests, which were carefully crafted to simulate the actual exam conditions. The rigorous daily schedule enabled participants to build time management skills, enhance subject knowledge, and gain confidence in tackling diverse question patterns.

After the evaluation, constructive feedback was given to help students so as to identify and address their weaknesses. This approach ensured targeted preparation, aligning with the structure and demands of the TET.

Students actively participated, showing keen interest and dedication. The structured approach and timely feedback provided by faculty members helped students identify areas for improvement. This initiative not only boosted their confidence but also emphasized  the importance of consistent practice in achieving success in competitive exams.

The initiative was met with enthusiasm and appreciation from students, who found the series to be instrumental in their preparation journey. The department's efforts in conducting the test series reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence and the success of its students.

The test series concluded with positive feedback from the students, who appreciated the effort and support provided by the faculty and the college administration.


“Scan to Uncover Tree Tales” QR Code Activity by the Innovative Club

The Innovative Club of B.Ed. Sem. III 2023-24 are working on a remarkable project “Scan to Uncover Tree Tales” that initiate blending of technology with environmental education to promote biodiversity awareness. This creative project involved developing QR codes for various trees on campus, allowing users to access fascinating information about the trees by simply scanning the codes.

The activity started with students meticulously gathering detailed information about tree, such as its botanical and common names, ecological significance, medicinal properties, and cultural relevance. The collected data was then digitized, and custom QR codes were generated to encapsulate the information. 

These QR codes, branded under the theme “Scanto Uncover Tree Tales,” were artistically designed and affixed in the college premises. Presently student has successfully designed 12 QR codes which are affixed in the premises. Students, staff, and visitors can now interact with the campus greenery through a simple scan using their smartphones, uncovering a wealth of knowledge at their fingertips.

Members of innovative club are continuously working on gathering information about all the trees, shrubs, herbs etc. present in the college premises as a part of the activity.

This activity not only showcased the technical skills and creativity of the students but also fostered a deep sense of connection with nature. It is helping students to engage in learning experience, sparking curiosity and admiration for the natural world.

The “Scan to Uncover Tree Tales” initiative serves as an inspiring example of how innovation and environmental consciousness can harmoniously coexist, encouraging everyone to think green while embracing the digital age.


'Cherish and Relish—A Fest on Taste and Tradition'

The Department of Education at St. Vincent Pallotti College organized an Inter-departmental Fest titled 'Cherish and Relish—A Fest on Taste and Tradition' on 30th November 2024 in the college campus. The event was a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity through food and traditional practices.

The fest was inaugurated by the Director, Rev. Fr. Amit Tirkey and Principal, Dr. Kuldeep Dubey who declared it open with an inspiring address highlighting the importance of preserving and cherishing cultural heritage in a globalized world.

Students from various departments enthusiastically participated, setting up stalls that exhibited  an array of traditional cuisines representing different cultures. Each stall was creatively decorated, reflecting the essence of the tradition it represented. The event also featured an array of traditional attires, performances, and decor, creating a rich tapestry of the country’s traditions.

The activity served as a platform for students to explore and appreciate the richness of traditions while fostering Inter-departmental collaboration. 'Cherish and Relish' not only celebrated food and tradition but also strengthened the values of unity, cultural pride, and team work among the college community.

 


Fresher's Day

The Department of Education at St. Vincent PallottiCollege hosted a lively and memorable Freshers' Day on 23rd November 2024 towelcome the new batch of B.Ed. students of Semester-I. The event aimed tofoster camaraderie and create a sense of belonging among the students.

The program began with a warm welcome by the seniorstudents, followed by an introduction to the freshers. A series of culturalperformances, including dances, songs, and skits, were organized, exhibitingthe creativity and talent of the students.

Interactive games and icebreaking activities wereconducted to promote interaction between the juniors and seniors. The mostawaited segment was the ramp walk, where freshers confidently introducedthemselves and impressed the audience with their charm and poise. Titles suchas 'Mr. Fresher' and 'Ms. Fresher' were awarded based on their performance,adding excitement to the celebration.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by theorganizers (senior students), followed by refreshments. The day was a blend ofjoy, creativity, and bonding, leaving both the freshers and seniors withlasting memories.


Deeksharambh

The Department ofEducation at St. Vincent Pallotti College organized the 'Deeksharambh' programon 23rd November 2024 to warmly welcome the incoming batch of B.Ed. students.This induction program aimed to familiarize students with the institution'sethos and provide them with a roadmap for their academic journey.

The programcommenced with a formal inauguration, marked by a prayer song and theceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Director, Rev.Fr. Amit Tirkey,Principal,  Dr. Kuldeep  Dubey, Vice Principal, Dr. G. Padma Gouri, andHODs of various departments. In the address, the Principal  highlighted the relevance of the New EducationPolicy 2020, the importance of values in education, and the role of teachers asleaders and change makers. The  Directoremphasized significance of self-discipline and proactive learning as essentialtraits for educators in the 21st century.

The event featured various activitiesdesigned to instill a sense of community and responsibility among the students.The session emphasized the importance of values in education, and the role ofteachers as leaders and change makers. Their inspiring words motivated the freshers to make themost of their time at the institution.

HOD, Dr. GayatriIyengar  introduced the curriculum,examination patterns, and co-curricular opportunities available to thestudents. She also encouraged the students for active participation incommunity outreach and innovative teaching practices.

 The program set a strong foundation for thestudents, aligning them with the values and goals of the Department ofEducation.

The induction concludedwith vote of thanks in a collaborative and welcoming environment.


Field trip to Chhattisgarh Science Centre

The B.Ed. students of St. Vincent Pallotti College participated in an educational field visit to the Chhattisgarh Science Centre, on November 16, 2024. The visit was organized to provide students with a hands-on learning experience and to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

The main objective of the field trip was to enhance students' understanding of scientific concepts, promote curiosity, and expose them to innovative teaching methodologies that they can incorporate into their future classrooms.

The Centre exhibited on topics like renewable energy, robotics, and scientific experiments. Many tableau were designed about the tribal life. Many models were exhibited to demonstrate the working principles and to illustrate how science can be made enjoyable and relatable for learners.

A special planetarium session was conducted, showcasing the wonders of the universe. This session was particularly inspiring for students, emphasizing the importance of astronomy in education

The students visited the outdoor science park, which featured large-scale exhibits like a sundial and models demonstrating physical laws.

Learning Outcomes

The visit enhanced students' understanding of science pedagogy by highlighting practical teaching strategies.

It provided an opportunity for collaborative learning and inquiry-based education.

Students were inspired to think critically and creatively about integrating science into their lesson plans.

The field visit to the Regional Science Centre was an enriching experience that fostered both academic and professional growth for the B.Ed. students. It underlined the importance of community resources as powerful tools for enhancing the teaching-learning process.


Create to Groom

The Department of Education at St. Vincent Pallotti College celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm on14th November 2024. The event aimed to rekindle the spirit of creativity and teamwork among the B.Ed. students through an engaging activity titled "Create to Groom."

Held in the seminar hall, the activity challenged students to create innovative outfits using only newspapers. With limited resources and unlimited imagination, the participants crafted dresses that showcased their artistic flair and resourcefulness. Each group then modeled their creations on stage, adding a touch of elegance and fun to the event.

The activity was a resounding success, fostering creativity, collaboration, and confidence among the students. It also served as a reminder of the importance of celebrating childhood and embracing creative learning methods. The celebration ended on a joyful note, with participants and spectators appreciating the effort and enthusiasm displayed by all.


“SWACCHH BHARAT ABHIYAN”

The Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan (Clean India Mission), initiated in 2014, has inspired countless efforts to uplift cleanliness and sanitation standards across India. As part of this mission, the Department of Education at St. Vincent Pallotti College joined hands with the Government Primary School Khapra bhatti, established in 1995 and situated in an urban area of Block - Dharsiva A, District - Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The second batch of the First Semester of the B.Ed. students was taken into the institute  on 19th October 2024. 

 

This collaboration highlights the commitment of educational institutions to the larger vision of creating a cleaner and healthier environment, emphasizing the integration of sanitation awareness with education for sustainable community development.

 

These events were not merely commemorative but a call to action, addressing critical issues such as sanitation, hygiene, environmental responsibility, and gender equality. This momentous occasion embodies the unwavering commitment of young minds to advance the message of Swacchh Bharat. It stands as a testament to the convergence of youth-led activism and the spirit of Swacchh Bharat, inspiring change, raising awareness, and driving meaningful action within the community.


Visit to Aakanksha School

The community activity conducted at the Aakanksha Institute of Learning and Empowerment marks a significant step toward inclusion and support for individuals with diverse abilities. Renowned for its work, the institute focuses on addressing the needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, autism, deaf-blindness, visual impairments, and other disabilities. Its comprehensive approach emphasizes education, empowerment, and skill development, making it a beacon of hope for many families and communities .The first batch of B.Ed. first semester students visited the institute on 4th October 2024.

 

As per the requirements of the community activity, it was necessary for the students of Education to understand the running of an educational institute, and in this case, the institution provides very tangible and substantial idea of dealing and educating children, who are intellectually a bit weak. The modules they used, the teaching patterns they executed and the special care to each individual were some of the key aspects which contribute to the purpose of visiting such facility. The students were divided into small units of 10. These groups were assigned a task each, which we did as a whole batch, but led, by the respective unit. There were various activities performed, in the School like Action song, Painting, Art and Craft etc.

 

The experience we received is much beyond words. It is always a joy, when we become an instrument for the other to smile, to be happy. Our presence was very much enjoyed by the students and the staff of the Aakanksha School. The joy and exuberance was doubled for we could teach them something. Each of the unit contributed to teach something novel to the students and we were overjoyed to be a part of it.

 


Gandhi Jayanti -“Swabhav - Swachhata, Sanskaar - Swachhata” Poster Making Competition

Department of Education, organized a Poster Competition on the theme “Swabhav -Swachhata, Sanskaar – Swachhata” on 2.10.24, aimed at promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and the inculcation of values among college students. The event was part of the college’s initiative to engage students in creative activities that inspire social awareness and responsibility.

The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students of B.Ed. Sem-I, who presented visually striking and thought-provoking posters. Through their artwork, students conveyed the importance of cleanliness in personal and public spaces, the need for environmental conservation, and how one’s character(sanskaar) reflects in maintaining “Swabhav, Swachhata, Sanskaar – Swachhata” cleanliness (swachhata) in everyday life.

The posters were evaluated based on creativity, relevance to the theme, originality, and presentation. A panel of esteemed judges, including faculty members and senior students  assessed the entries.

During the prize distribution ceremony, the Principal of the college, Dr. Kuldeep Dubey addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of such initiatives in promoting behavioral change among youth.

The event was a success, spreading awareness about the importance of cleanliness and value-based living among students. It fostered a sense of responsibility towards maintaining cleanliness in both physical surroundings and personal behavior.

The college management extended their appreciation to all participants, the organizing committee, and the staff for their efforts in making the event a meaningful contribution to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.


Guest Lecture on "Action Research"

Department of Education, had hosted a guest lecture on "Action Research" delivered by Dr. M. Vijaya Laxmi on 24/08/24. She is a distinguished scholar in the field of educational research, brought her vast experience and knowledge to the session, offering valuable insights into the application of action research in education.

The lecture aimed to familiarize students and faculty with the concept of action research, highlighting its significance in enhancing educational practices.

Dr. Vijaya Laxmi began by defining action research as a participatory and reflective process which empowers educators to take an active role in improving their practices through systematic inquiry and reflection. Emphasizing the critical role of action research, Dr. Vijaya Laxmi discussed how it serves as a powerful tool for educators to identify and solve problems within their classrooms or institutions.

Methodological Approach:

Dr. Vijaya Laxmi provided a detailed overview of the steps involved in conducting action research:

      • Problem Identification: Recognizing and articulating a specific issue that requires intervention.
      • Planning: Designing a strategy or intervention to address the problem.
      • Implementation: Putting the plan into action within the educational setting.
      • Observation and Reflection: Monitoring the outcomes and reflecting on the process to determine the effectiveness of the intervention.
      • Revision: Adjusting the approach based on reflections and continuing the cycle for further improvement.

Dr. Vijaya Laxmi encouraged active participation, inviting questions and facilitating a discussion on the challenges and opportunities associated with action research. The guest lecture by Dr. M. Vijaya Laxmi at St. Vincent Pallotti College, Raipur, was a highly informative and engaging session..

Workshop on Active Learning Methodology (ALM)

St. Vincent Pallotti College organized a comprehensive workshop on Active Learning Methodology from 15th July 2024 to 24th July 2024. The workshop aimed to empower teacher trainees with the latest tools and strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

Resource Person

For the first three days of the workshop, from 15th July to18th July, Mr. Deepankar Bhoumick, a distinguished expert in educational technology and active learning, served as the resource person. His sessions focused on the utilization of the latest apps as Teaching and Learning Materials (TLM).

The sessions were carried by the college teachers discussing the usage of various active learning techniques, including KIM [Key, Information Memory] , Educational Games, Mind Maps, and Chronologue, W-H Template, Sloke-Sutra and formula, Cooperative learning techniques, Cloze test, mind mapping, etc. into the classroom setting. Practical exercises were conducted to illustrate how this technique can be used in the classroom to reinforce learning.
